Tiger Airways boosts its presence in India

Low cost carrier Tiger Airways is launching next September flights to Hyderabad out of Singapore.

SINGAPORE- Low cost carrier Tiger Airways is adding Hyderabad to its growing India network. Starting from 27 September 2012, it will launch a five times weekly service between Singapore and Hyderabad. This addition marks the sixth Indian destination for Singapore Airlines’ low cost affiliate. It comes after Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) and Tiruchirappalli.

“We are excited at the prospect of growing our paw print in the region. India’s popularity as a tourist destination and business centre is growing by leaps and bounds, and Tiger is well placed to offer customers more choices of flights between India and Singapore,” said Tiger Airways Singapore Managing Director Stewart Adams.

Renowned for its history, tradition and cuisine, the 400-year old capital of Andhra Pradesh in Southern India is also building a reputation for being a technology capital. Hyderabad’s many epithets include City of Pearls, Biryani City and more recently Cyberabad. To mark the newest addition to the Tiger network, the airline is offering exceptional promotional fares from SGD 190 one-way (Singapore to Hyderabad) and USD 165 one-way (Hyderabad to Singapore) all-inclusive. The fares are available for sale till 13 Jul and can be used for travel between 27 September and 31 October.

“We recognise that affordable travel is an important consideration for our customers.  We are committed to offering great value fares that are backed by friendly service, and reliable, on-time flights,” added Mr. Adams.

In Asia, Tiger Airways is one of the continent’s leading low-cost carriers with a fleet of 34 A320 aircraft with an average age of under three years. It also has two A319s that are operated independently by SEAir in the Philippines under a partner airline program and recently signed an agreement to manage Indonesia-based carrier Mandala Air. Tiger Airways Group will build its fleet to 68 aircraft by December 2015. Operating from Singapore and Australia, Tiger network extends to over 30 destinations across 13 countries in the Asia Pacific region.

Australian subsidiary Tiger Airways launched on July 1st its second base in Sydney. First flights link Sydney to Gold Coast in complement to flights from Sydney to Melbourne and from Sydney to Brisbane.
