MyCEB announces new bid win for Malaysia

Country to welcome 12th Asia Pacific Conference on Biomechanics in 2023.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) announced a new bid win for the country’s business events industry whereby Malaysia will officially host the 12th Asia Pacific Conference on Biomechanics (APCB) 2023.

Organised by the Asia-Pacific Association for Biomechanics (APAB), brought in by The Malaysian Society of Biomechanics (MSB) and supported by various authorities especially MyCEB, APCB is the biggest biomechanics conference to be held in Malaysia. The annual event provides platform to encourage, foster, and promote research in the field of biomechanics in the Asian-Pacific region, and build a community for the industry.

Datuk Zulkefli Hj. Sharif, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB revealed that Malaysia nailed her victory in Taipei, Taiwan, earlier this month.

“The bidding process required countries to present their pitch to the executive council of the Asia-Pacific Association of Biomechanics (APAB). Malaysia was successful as we put forward a very compelling case and a winning ingredient with the strong support by various authorities including MyCEB, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) and the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE). APAB was also impressed with the line of education and medical institutions that were part of the panel of partners such as University of Malaya, University of Malaya Medical Centre, University of Malaysia Terengganu, National Sports Institutions and more,” said Datuk Zulkefli.

As the second ASEAN country to host APCB, Malaysia is expecting to welcome approximately 800 delegates for the event, with an estimated RM 8.37 million in economic impact.

Datuk Zulkefli also said that Malaysia is excited to bring its multiculturalism to the table when delegates arrive. He continued, “Malaysia has always been unique in the sense of our heritage and culture, forming a charm of our own. Business visitors are sure to gain the experience of various cultures all in one nation, something that has kept our industry alive apart from the country’s facilities when it comes to business events”.

Representing the local organiser, Professor Ir. Dr. Noor Azuan Abu Osman, Chairman of MSB said that, “It will not be easy to organise such a big APCB event, but I will give my own personal assurance that we will make Malaysia proud and will strive to do a great job in organising this event”.

He also commented, “Bringing top-level Biomechanist to Malaysia is not only a great platform for our Malaysian biomechanist to present our work in front of top scientists but also having them coming to this event will help create a very strong legacy in the field of biomechanics in the region”.
