Government has emphasized its strict surveillance of the people returning from overseas by requiring them to be under state or local quarantine for 14 days.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has issued an announcement, imposing a ban on incoming passenger flights from 7 April 2020, at 00.01 hr, to 18 April 2020, at 23.59 hr.
The intent of the announcement is to effectively prevent and control the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), in support of the tackling of the emergency situation.
CAAT allows exceptions for landings of the following aircraft:
- State or military aircraft;
- Emergency landing;
- Technical landing without passenger disembarkation;
- Humanitarian aid, medical, and relief flights;
- Repatriation flights;
- Cargo aircraft.
Passengers on flights that took off from destinations of origin before the CAAT’s announcement took effect are subject under Section 9 of the Emergency Decree on Public Administration in Emergency Situations B.E. 2548 (2005) to be quarantined for 14 days upon arrival in Thailand.
